November 7, 2020 Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff, When a confirmed case of COVID-19 occurs we will notify all parents and staff in the impacted building. This communication is to inform you that one individual has tested positive at Pecatonica Community Middle School. The individual is currently in isolation at home. The individual is not scheduled to return to school until cleared by the Winnebago County Health Department to do so. The school is currently working with the Health Department to identify those in close contact with this individual. Close contact is defined by the Center for Disease Control as someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset until the time the patient is isolated. Based on the health department’s contact investigation, anyone identified to have been in close contact will also quarantine at home. If additional close contacts are identified as part of the investigation, the health department will reach out and provide appropriate guidance. We continue to work proactively to keep students and staff safe by following Winnebago County Health Department, Illinois Department of Public Health, and Centers for Disease Control guidelines. We encourage everyone to practice social distancing, wear a face covering when in public, frequently wash hands and hard surfaces, and stay home if they are ill or experiencing any COVID symptoms. The health and safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Bill Faller Superintendent

November 6, 2020 Dear Parents and Community Members, I would like to again thank you for all of your collective efforts as we continue to deal with the impacts of the pandemic. As I have stated previously it takes a community effort to educate our students. The positive numbers are increasing in Illinois and in Winnebago County. However, the positivity rate in the schools overall is low. Quarantining students who are close contacts is the process which helps reduce the potential spread. I want to continue to encourage our families to please follow the guidance from our health departments. Our primary focus is to maintain and continue to provide in-person instruction. Unfortunately, it is still essential our families prepare for the possibility of either an individual student, classroom, school or the district going from in-person learning to remote. Please have a family plan ready. We work very closely with the Winnebago County Health Department whenever we receive a positive case. Recently, Connie White our food service director and I met with a representative from the Illinois State Board of Education regarding the opportunity to participate in the USDA free lunch program for all during the Covid pandemic. This is a federal program monitored by ISBE. There were concerns previously that the funding was not flowing to the districts. As long as the district receives the funding for it, we will take advantage of this program, beginning this month. I will inform you should the funding fail to flow to the district. Please be safe. Sincerely, Bill Faller
