Dear Parents,
Attached is the Return the School Plan with an explanation of the Remote Option. The plan was approved by the Pecatonica CUSD Board of Education and reviewed by the Winnebago County Health Department. A committee of over 28 teachers, para-professional, administrators and support staff have been working on the plan for the past month. Their contributions and insights have been invaluable.
The current pandemic impacts how schools will operate for the 2020-2021 school year. There is a saying that it takes a community to educate a child. That saying is even more significant today. The challenges are going to be great. We are going to need everyone’s patience, understanding and flexibility as we implement the Return to School Plan.
Please read the attached Return To School Plan thoroughly. Parents will have the option to choose In-Person or Remote instruction. Those parents who choose In-Person will be required to certify that their student(s) are symptom free each day prior to the start of school on our student administrative software. I would also strongly encourage parents to make plans in the event the district is required to go to all Remote Learning. There will be infrared thermometers in each classroom and on each bus providing staff the ability to further monitor temperatures of students.
We are allowed a maximum of 50 people on a bus and in a room. Class sizes meet this criteria but students will be eating lunches in several different rooms besides the cafeterias. Our plan is to have the driver and another adult on each bus, thus only 48 students will be allowed per bus. If you are able to provide transportation to and/or from school, it will greatly assist us.
We are asking our parents to complete the “Opt in or Opt Out” form to provide us the necessary
information related to choosing In-Person or Remote Learning Option, as well as transportation requirements. Please complete the “Opt in or Opt Out” form by 4:00pm Monday, August 10, 2020. https://forms.gle/s9E5zNw6H6p6...
No matter which option you choose for your student, please know that much deliberation and preparation has been invested into this Plan in order to deliver quality education. We look forward to working with you to make 2020-2021 a great school year!
Sincerely
William L. Faller
Superintendent
