Dear Parents and Community Members,
Governor Pritzker’s school closure order is currently through April 7, 2020; however, I recommend that parents and community members prepare for the possibility of the closure to extend past April 7, 2020.
The initial closure order included Act of God days (March 17-March 30). During the Act of God days, academic work was encouraged, but schools were not to count work as part of the students’ grades. Late Friday night, we were provided guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education that Remote Learning Days will begin on March 31, 2020. Going from a traditional school/classroom to a Remote Learning type of environment will not be without some struggles, and our teachers have been working very hard to plan meaningful learning experiences for our students online. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has forced school districts to create the E-Learning/Remote learning plans with a very limited amount of time and planning.
Attached is the District’s Remote Learning plan. We will also post the Remote-Learning plan on our Website and Facebook account. As stated earlier, there will be challenges as we move from what was previously normal to this Remote-Learning format, and we appreciate your patience and support throughout this transition. I encourage all to be understanding of the challenges of the move from classroom to essentially internet teaching.
As part of the Remote-Learning plan, we will be taking attendance. Attendance will be taken by a Google survey that will be shared to parents and students each day via email. Our administrative software, TeacherEase, is currently working on an electronic attendance format which we hope will be available very soon.
