Pumpkin the Hedgehog, who lives at Critter Camp in German Valley, visited the Elementary School last Friday, April 12, 2019. It’s amazing how much interest one little hedgehog can create! She was very cute and full of energy for a nocturnal animal. Pumpkin peered at students from a blanket as she was introduced and wonder shone bright in the children's eyes at the fascinating creature. She appeared soft and cuddly but her quills felt very different. Students were able to pet Pumpkin if they wanted to and then she was free to roam about the children’s circle smelling for a nice dark place to curl up into a ball. Beth from Critter Camp scooped Pumpkin up to bundle her back into her colorful blanket and answer questions, like, of course, “What do hedgehogs eat?” Thanks Beth for teaching kids about hedgehogs.
