Mr. Dunn’s Ecology Class collected Maple Syrup Sap at the Torstenson Property recently. Students tapped the Maple trees and collected sap in plastic containers. The sap was poured into giant kettles and placed outside with propane tanks to heat the liquid. Steam rose up as the sap bubbled and the water boiled out to produce a richly dark colored pure maple syrup. Beautiful bottles were then filled with thick maple syrup to be enjoyed by students and staff.
